June 1–July 31, join the Summer Reading Challenge. Read, complete activities, and earn prizes. No library card required.

Join thousands of Nashvillians as we read (or listen!) for the Summer Reading Challenge. Register on Beanstack for free and log your reading. 

 

How to Participate

Individuals and Families

  • Register online or pick up a paper log at a branch and return it when complete.
  • Track reading and activities. Log reading for 15 days and get a prize. Complete 10 activities to win a prize.
  • If you signed up for Summer Reading in Beanstack last year, your account is still there. Just log in and join this year's challenge!

Groups

  • Contact your local library branch to register as a group.
  • Groups must be part of a daycare, summer camp, senior center, or other organization.
  • Participants who complete the program as a group are also allowed (and encouraged!) to complete the program individually to redeem individual-program prizes.
  • Families may not participate as groups. They must register each member individually.

  • Receive a reusable bag. 

Reading and Activity Prizes

Earn prizes by reading or doing activities or both!

  • For every 15 days read, you'll earn a coupon for a local business or branch trading card plus 1 entry in the grand prize drawing. Repeat 4 times.
  • For every 10 activities completed, you'll earn a coupon for a local business or branch trading card plus 1 entry in the grand prize drawing.

Grand Prize Drawings

At the end of Summer Reading, each library location will have 1 drawing for a $150 gift card to a local bookstore.

 


Take a Peek at This Year's Activities

  1. Visit your favorite branch and collect their trading card.
  2. Participate in a library program.
  3. Ask a library staff member for a recommendation in person or through Library Concierge.
  4. Use a library database like Ancestry or ArtistWorks.  
  5. Follow your library on Instagram or Facebook.
  6. Check out a book from a booklist in your branch or on our catalog.
  7. Read a book in genre you don't usually read.
  8. Read a book set in another country.
  9. Take a break and read at your favorite local business.
  10. Read a translated book.
  11. Read an award-winning book.
  12. Reread a book you loved as a child.
  13. Read something from the New Book or Lucky Day collection (available in each branch and on Libby).
  14. Help someone else sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.
  15. Visit a new branch and collect their trading card.
